Background:
 Fatusa C. A. ADETUYI, is a Professor of Environmental Microbiology with specialization in Phytobacteriology. He obtained B. Sc. Hons (Botany) from University of Ibadan in 1977 and M. Sc. (Botany) from University of Jos in 1981. He graduated with a Ph. D. in Microbiology in 1985 at the King’s College, University of London, U. K. He was awarded Federal Government of Nigeria Post Graduate Scholarship for both M.Sc. and Ph. D. programmes at the University of Jos, Department of Botany, October 1980 - Sept. 1981 and King’s College London, University of London, October 1982-Sept. 1985. He won four separate Federal University of Technology Akure Research Grants in 1986/1987, 1988/1999; 1989/1990 academic sessions to study the epiphytic microflora on maize and sorghum seed coats. He also enjoyed Fellowship Awards from Maryland Agricultural Experimental Station to carry out a research project on the “Epiphytic survival and competitiveness of Pseudomonas syringae pv syringae Pss 61 and its hrp mutants on wheat seedlings” at the Department of Botany, University of Maryland, College Park MD 20742 USA from October 1991 to June 1992. National Science Foundation sponsored his research project titled the Production of syringomycin by Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae isolated from wheat seed coat at the Department of Biology, Utah State University Logan UT 84322 USA. Fatusa Clement has supervised many Undergraduates, more than 50 Master’s and 30 Ph. D. students. To his credit, he published more than 80 research articles in Learned Journals and attended more than fifteen conferences with research articles presented. He was an External Examiner at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels to many universities including University of Benin; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, University of Ado-Ekiti and University of Ilorin, Ilorin. He owns Membership of Professional Bodies to Botanical Society of Nigeria; Science Association of Nigeria (Member of Council 1997-98); Nigerian Society of Microbiology; Indian Mycological Society.
